Truckfill Water Treatment Building, Hamlet of Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut
The Government of Nunavut ordered a new water treatment plant from BI Pure Water as a part of an upgrade to the existing truckfill station. The new plant contains a calcium hypochlorite disinfection system and a motor control center, supplying power to the plant. Provisions have been made for installation of future cartridge and activated carbon filtration modules. A new submersible well pump (capacity 950 L/min) and a SCADA reporting system is also part of the contract.

This government-controlled project consists of a new water treatment plant with a capacity of 1350 L/.min supplying a truck-fill station. The plant subjects well water to three stages of cartridge filtration, activated carbon filtration and chlorination before the truck transfer. Building and equipment selection/design represented a number of challenges for BI Pure Water, for example the requirement of uninterrupted operation at temperatures below minus 55 deg. C. Besides water treatment equipment, the building contains a diesel generator, a motor control center and an oil furnace.
